Robbie Seahag Mangano is a bassist, guitarist, studio musician, composer, producer, and music transcriber based in New York. His work moves freely between rock, jazz, experimental music, film, and whatever else one could imagine.

Over the years, Robbie has toured, recorded, collaborated, and performed with an unusually wide range of artists, including Tom Morello, Rickie Lee Jones, Sean Lennon, Stevie Van Zandt, Vernon Reid, Nels Cline, Elvis Costello, Bobby Weir, Adrian Belew, Laurie Anderson, Slash, John Mayer, and many others. He has also performed and recorded with groups including Ghost of a Saber Toothed Tiger, Banned From Utopia, The Mahavishnu Project, the Michael Leonhart Orchestra, and the Ed Palermo Big Band.

As a bassist, guitarist, and studio musician, Robbie works in both live and recording environments, contributing performances to projects ranging from straightforward rock and pop to jazz, experimental music, and more. He is equally comfortable laying down a focused bass or guitar part, creating layered overdubs, or helping shape an arrangement in the studio.

Robbie has developed extensive home-recording and production skills, allowing him to take projects from an initial idea through recording, editing, arranging, sound design, and mixing. His approach combines strong musicianship with an ear for production, tone, texture, and the small details that make recordings come to life. Whether working independently or as part of a larger production, he enjoys solving musical and sonic problems and finding the sound that best compliments the song.

Robbie is also an experienced music transcriber, having created guitar and bass transcriptions of music by artists including Frank Zappa, AC/DC, Primus, Julian Lage, Derek Trucks, Trey Anastasio, and many others. His transcription work has taken him deep into music that ranges from technically demanding guitar and bass playing to highly unconventional compositions and arrangements.
 

As a composer and producer, Robbie creates original music for his own projects as well as music for film and other media. His work draws from a broad musical vocabulary rather than fitting neatly into any one genre, and he brings the same curiosity and attention to detail to composition that he brings to performance and recording.

Whether he's playing bass or guitar on stage, working as a studio musician, recording and producing from his home studio, composing for film, transcribing an impossible guitar part, or helping another artist bring an idea to life, Robbie approaches music with curiosity, precision, versatility, and a genuine love of the craft.
